Product details
The DJI Matrice 5TD uses a gimbal housing four complementary cameras . The first is a 48MP wide-angle camera with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor , an f/1.7 aperture , and a 24mm equivalent focal length . It establishes the overall structure before examining a detail.
The 48MP medium telephoto camera also features a 1/1.3-inch sensor . Its 3x optical zoom , equivalent to 70mm , makes it easy to observe a specific object without having to constantly move the drone closer. For seeing further, the 48MP super telephoto lens , equipped with a 1/1.5-inch RYYB sensor, offers 11x magnification and a hybrid zoom of up to 176x . The level of detail obtained depends on the distance, image stability, and visibility.
The fourth camera is dedicated to thermal imaging with a resolution of 1280 × 1024 pixels . It allows for the observation of differences in infrared radiation and the identification of areas requiring further investigation, such as abnormally hot components on technical equipment. The PIP display overlays a thermal window onto the visible image, while MSX combines the information from both views. The thermal video can also be viewed in 2K resolution .
For nighttime observations, the super telephoto lens utilizes its RYYB sensor , and the drone features near-infrared illumination . These two functions help to distinguish details even in low ambient light. A laser rangefinder with a maximum range of 3 km completes the equipment, providing a distance measurement useful for spotting an object or locating a point of interest.
The Matrice 5TD can also accommodate up to three accessories simultaneously , depending on the compatible equipment, including lighting or sound systems. These optional accessories are not included in the advertised package contents.
O4 connection, DJI FlightHub 2 and safety devices
To connect the device to its control environment, Dock 4 relies on O4 transmission , RTK positioning , and integrated 4G connectivity . An elevated O4 ground station can place the antennas above nearby obstacles, while the connection to the nearest available O4 station function accommodates multi-point deployments. The advertised range can reach up to 40 km under the intended transmission conditions; this remains dependent on radio regulations and the environment.
Flights can be organized using DJI FlightHub 2 , from route planning to live video streaming. Map search functions allow users to find photographs associated with a selected point. Copilot tools assist with route creation and certain commands, while Analyzer Pro helps compare observations and locate features for further investigation.
The software environment also supports emergency response scenarios, notably through the DFR (Drone as First Responder) workflow . Connection to third-party systems is achieved via OpenAPI 2.0 and synchronization mechanisms: aerial images and information can thus be integrated into an existing monitoring system. The exact functions should be verified according to the activated services and licenses.
In terms of safety, the Matrice 5TD incorporates six color obstacle detection cameras , real-time altitude alerts , and an active avoidance system linked to Remote Identification (RID) for multi-aircraft operations. Safety features associated with European C5 and C6 classes include a parachute and an independent flight termination system (FTS) , depending on the configuration.
Finally, data management within the DJI FlightHub 2 ecosystem includes announced end-to-end encryption and audit logging mechanisms . Beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights remain subject to applicable authorizations and regulations, regardless of the equipment's technical capabilities.
